Chess Played Quick is Chess.com's monthly series of events where top chess streamers complete bounties for prizes.

The 2023 Chess Played Quick 960 Speedrun edition takes place on May 29 at 9 a.m. Pacific/18:00 CEST. Streamers do a Chess960 speedrun to reach their highest rating and complete bounties for two hours. The event features 2000 Twitch/Kick subs as the prize fund.

Format

Streamers start with a new "beginner" account with an 800 Chess960 rating and do a speedrun in the 3+0 time control lasting two hours. Players earn points throughout the competition to claim their bounties. Streamers then get prizes according to the total points they gathered.

All games must be played using our Play server (not the Variants server). To do that, go to our Play Online page, click Custom, and select the Chess960 option from the dropdown menu above the time control options.

Points And Bounties

Players can earn points in a few different ways:

  • 1 point for every 50 rating points climbed (measured by their highest rating).
  • 1 point for every five games they win.
  • 1 point for every five games in their longest win streak.
  • 2 points for beating another CPQ participant (only claimable once)

Players also earn points by finishing among the event's top 10 participants:

  • 1st: 10 points
  • 2nd: 9 points
  • 3rd: 8 points
  • 4th: 7 points
  • 5th: 6 points
  • 6th: 5 points
  • 7th: 4 points
  • 8th: 3 points
  • 9th: 2 points
  • 10th: 1 point

Prizes

The event features 2,000 Twitch/Kick subs as the prize fund. Players earn subs according to the points they gather during the event. The sub value of each point is determined by dividing the event's prize fund (2000 subs) by the total points awarded to all participants.

Schedule

The event starts on May 29 at 9 a.m. PT/18:00 CEST and lasts two hours.
