Chess Played Quick Doubles (Bughouse) Edition: All The Information

Chess Played Quick is a monthly event where streamers do live speed runs using Chess.com's features.

Chess Played Quick: Doubles (Bughouse) Edition starts on November 14 at 10 a.m. PST/19:00 CET. This month, top streamers will team up to compete in doubles (bughouse) games. Participants will have three hours to reach their highest bughouse rating and to collect five bounties.


Broadcast

You can tune in to Chess.com/TV or to our Twitch and YouTube channels to enjoy the event's live broadcast. NM James Canty will be providing commentary throughout the event.

Format

  • Players will be divided into two sections (Open and U2000) according to their peak Chess.com blitz or bughouse rating (highest rating);
  • Players will do a doubles (bughouse) speed run in the 3|0 time control lasting three hours;
  • Accepting direct challenges from other players is not allowed during the speed run;
  • Players have to keep default search parameters when searching for opponents;
  • During the speed run, players will try to reach the highest rating in their section and complete different bounties (described in the Bounties section).

Prizes

The event has a $10,000 prize fund, with prizes for the open and U2000 sections being the same. The amounts described below are not for each individual and will be split between team members.

  • 1st: $1,500
  • 2nd: $1,000
  • 3rd: $750
  • 4th: $500
  • 5th: $250

Bounties

This month's event will feature five bounties, with the prize amount for each bounty being the same for the Open and U2000 sections. The prizes listed below are not individual and will be split between team members.

  • Checkmate by placing a piece: $200
  • Checkmate without placing a piece higher than a pawn for the entire game: $200
  • Checkmate without placing any piece on the board for the entire game: $200
  • Place seven or more pieces in a row: $200
  • Have four knights and four bishops of your color on a single board: $200

Note that only one of the players needs to complete the tasks described above for the team to claim the bounty.

Schedule

The event will start on November 14 at 10 a.m. PST/19:00 CET and last for three hours.

Rules And Signup

  • Players can register individually or in a team;
  • Players who register individually will be matched with others by the Chess.com staff;
  • Chess Played Quick: Doubles edition will be played within /Play
  • We will provide Discord accounts to the individual players who got matched up so they can communicate on the day before the event;
  • Players are encouraged to join a Discord voice channel to communicate during the event;
  • Players registering as a team can provide a team name that will be used during the broadcast;
  • Players will be separated into two different sections (Open and U2000-rated) according to their main account's peak Chess.com bughouse or blitz ratings (determined by the highest rating of the strongest player);
  • Accepting direct challenges from other players is not allowed during the speed run;
  • Players have to keep default search parameters when looking for opponents;
  • The first player to finish each task and send in video or image proof collects the bounty;
  • Players must sign up using the event's official form—applications close 48 hours before the event;
  • Players must stream their participation in the event;
  • Streamers must identify their accounts with their name;
  • Players must connect their streaming account to Chess.com.
