Chess Played Quick - Holiday Special 2023

Chess Played Quick (CPQ) is Chess.com's series of events where top chess streamers complete bounties for prizes.

Chess Played Quick Holiday Special 2023 happens on December 18 at 12 p.m. ET/18:00 CET/10:30 p.m. IST. Top streamers perform a two-hour speedrun on a choice of 10 different categories: bullet, blitz, puzzles (rated), Puzzle Battle, Bughouse, Crazyhouse, Chess 960, King of the Hill, 4-Player Chess, and 3 Check. Players will be ranked according to their ratings in each category added up at the end of the allocated two hours—the objective is to achieve the highest overall amount. They can earn points based on their placement and by completing different challenges. The event features 2000 Twitch/Kick subs (or $5 Youtube memberships) as the prize fund.


Format

Players perform a two-hour speed run in 10 different categories: 

  1. Bullet (on our Play Online page)
  2. Blitz (Play Online)
  3. Puzzles (rated) (on chess.com/puzzles/rated)
  4. Puzzle Battle (on chess.com/puzzles/battle)
  5. Doubles / Bughouse (Play Online) - Solo queuing
  6. Crazyhouse (Play Online)
  7. Live Chess 960 (Play Online)
  8. King of the Hill (Play Online)
  9. 4-Player Chess FFA - Rapid 1|7 (on our Variants page)
  10. 3 Check (Play Online)

Players are free to play in the categories of their choice in any order and for any duration. The objective is to achieve the highest overall score once the ratings are added up at the end of the allocated two hours. Rematches and direct challenges are forbidden, but you can play simultaneous games at your own risk!

Players get points based on their placement in the rankings at the end of the event and via extra challenges.

Challenges And Proof

One challenge (worth 2 points) is available for each category, and the highest rated players in each category get 5 points. Challenges can be completed in any order.

Chess 960 Take a pawn on move two and win Highest rated in 960
King of the Hill Win in less than 15 moves Highest rated in King of the Hill
4-Player Chess Win a game without moving your king Highest rated in 4-Player Chess
3 Check Get the 3 checks with three different pieces Highest rated in 3 Check

Proof of completion must be sent for each successful challenge, with any proof working as long as it's clear. Examples of clear proof include screenshots, clips, or VODs with timestamps.

Prizes

There are 2000 Twitch/Kick subs (or $5 Youtube memberships) at stake this month as the prize fund. The amount of subs for each point is determined by dividing the total prize fund (2,000 subs) by the number of total points earned by all participants.

Schedule

The event happens on December 18 at 12 p.m. ET/18:00 CEST/22:30 p.m. IST and lasts for two hours.
