Chess Played Quick Variants Edition: All The Information

Chess Played Quick is a monthly event where streamers do live speed runs using Chess.com's features.

This month's edition, Chess Played Quick: Variants Edition, will feature top streamers playing multiple chess variants. The event happens on October 10, starting at 10 a.m. PT/19:00 CEST. Streamers will have three hours to collect as many bounties as possible and compete for their share of the more than $10,000 prize fund.

Format

  • Players will be divided into two categories (Open and U2000) according to their peak Chess.com blitz rating;
  • The event will feature three segments, each dedicated to a different variant: Fog of War, Chess960, and 4 Player Chess;
  • The event will start with a one-hour Fog of War speed run (3+0 time control). The second hour will be dedicated to a FFA 4 Player Chess tournament (using 4+0 time control). For the last hour, participants will be asked to complete a Chess960 speed run (3+0 time control). The speed runs' objective is to reach the highest rating possible;
  • Players will also try to complete bounties during every segment.

Bounties

Bounties can be claimed once per category (Open / U2000).

Fog of War

  • Promote a pawn: $250
  • Win without castling: $250
  • Capture the enemy king with a knight: $250

4 Player Chess

  • Capture one of the opponents' king: $250
  • Score 100 points or more in one game: $250
  • Check more than one king with a single move: $250

Chess960

  • Checkmate in ten moves or less:* $300
  • Recreate the starting position for regular chess (all pieces except pawns): $250
  • Take an undefended pawn on move 2: $250

* Or have your opponent resign in a game where you have forced mate before the 10th move.

Schedule

The event starts at 10 a.m. PT/19:00 CEST on October 10. Each section (Fog of War, Chess960, and 4 Player Chess) will last one hour.

Rules And Signup

  • Streamers must create a new account to participate in the event or reuse the same account from previous CPQ events;
  • Players will be split into two categories (Open and U2000-rated) according to their main account's peak Chess.com blitz rating. We reserve the right to change a player's category if needed;
  • The first player to finish each task and submit a clip containing proof collects the bounty;
  • Only one player can participate per stream;
  • Players must fill out the event's official application form if they wish to participate. Please note that applications close 48 hours before the event;
  • Players must stream their participation during the event;
  • Players must connect their streaming account to Chess.com.
