Lasker - his famous game in Duesseldorf/Germany
So this famous game Tarrasch - Lasker was played almost exactly for 100 years ( august 1908 ) in my living town Duesseldorf (germany).
It is the second game of the title match for worldchampionshp. Tarrasch, a very dogmatic chess player, had challenged Lasker, the title holder.
Tarrasch lost the first game and starts the game with great determination. But see yourself ... ( game in five parts with comments and move list)
Part one: the opening
Tarrasch has very good start in the game. 11. Ne2 ( via g3 to f5) was an experiment that succeeded, because Lasker did not open the game with 11. ...d5!
Part two: Black goes for confusion
Noticed that the opening has in favorite for Tarrasch, Lasker decided with dubios
Ng4?! to confuse the game. But Tarrasch is alert and keeps control over the game
Part three: White takes the pawn and blacks gets counterplay
Tarrasch cannot master his desire and takes the pawn on a7. Not a mistake, in the objective sense, but the first step in direction to his defeat.- Suddenly Lasker gets counterplay in the e-file
Part four: The wind has complety changed
Now the initiative goes completly to Lasker. It seems, that looses the overview over the game. He made fearful moves and at the end his superknight on f5 ends on h1. The "bad bishop" stands suddenly fixed on e3. What a change!
Part five: The end - without comment
The end is an execution! Tarrasch lost this game, which has started so hopefully, in the middlegame, when he gave the initiative for a pawn
I think this game decided the whole match. Lasker succeeded at the end with a score of +5
