Karpov and the Yugoslav Attack in Sicilian Dragon
The Yugoslav attack in Sicilian dragon is one of the sharpest lines in chess. The starting position (tabiya) is this one:
Normally white goes here for a sharp kingside attack,- often in the h-file -, and black counters at the queenside. Often in the half-open c-file!
One of the most famous games with this opening happened in the year 1974, when Kortschnoi dared to play the Dragon as a surprising weapon against Karpow. Karpow was well prepared and won the game brilliantly. The game was finished after 27 moves.

So when you look at the pawnstructure in move 7 of that game ...
... and later that one in move 20:
... you can see, that there is not such a big change. The black pawnstructure is exact the same, white has sacrified the h-pawn and moved once the g-pawn.
So why do i spot it? Isn`t it superfluous?
Yes, may be. But it shows, that between move 7 and 20 the piece play was the dominant factor in this game. Add the castling to different sides to it, you may have the reason for the danger and popularity of that line

Here now that famous game:
This game in round 2 may have been the base of his win in the Final candidate match. Karpov became the challenger of Bobby Fischer. Fischer declined and Karpov was declared in 1975 as the new worldchampion in chess
