Some Canadian who can't improve his OTB rating, and now for the weird description many people put, here:

A brief history of Canada: The colonists came and wanted to take over what is now Western Canada, but the bears prevented them from doing so, so a deal was made. One province would be named BC an acronym for Bear Country and the other Albearta. Over the years people forgot about this and put BC as British Columbia and misspelled Albearta as Alberta.
