Kazakhstan Chess Cup 2023. Round 1
Hi everyone!
Yesterday, the Kazakhstan Chess Cup 2023 started! It all began with the opening ceremony, which was attended by representatives of the Chess Federation of Kazakhstan, as well as representatives of FIDE.
In the first round, which started right after the opening ceremony, my opponent was Alisher Bolatov from Kazakhstan. The game proceeded calmly, without any surprises. I was able to successfully emerge from the opening with a good position. I am sharing my game below.
I finished my game relatively early and wanted to visit the St. Regis hotel, which is the venue for the World Chess Championship Match and is located near the site of my tournament. However, I learned that Nepo and Ding had quickly made a draw, so there was no point in going there anymore.
By the way, about the venue of the Kazakhstan Chess Cup tournament... the tournament is being held at the Tennis Academy in Astana. This is a huge facility with a large number of tennis courts. I wouldn't say that it was the deciding factor in my decision to come here, but I really wanted to see a modern tennis academy. Perhaps I haven't shared this information in my blog yet, but last year I started playing tennis and this new hobby brings me great pleasure!
After the game, I decided to take a walk around the city. By the way, have you seen the terrible snowstorm here about a week ago?! Now the sun is shining and it makes me feel even better! Below, I am sharing some photos I took yesterday evening.
By the way, last night (local time) I hosted a stream on my Twitch channel, analyzing the first round game. I plan to do this every day and will be happy to see everyone on my channel 😊
Thank you very much for reading!
