On the weekend of June 10, 2023, 13-year-old chess master Alice Lee secured her final IM norm, breaking the record for the youngest American-born female to hold the International Master title, following Carissa Yip and Annie Wang.

During the Canadian Transnational tournament, Lee also broke 2400 for the second time and earned her third WGM norm. To no surprise, she will soon hold the Woman Grandmaster title.

I [am] very excited to become an IM and WGM, although I wasn't expecting it. I would like to thank my family, coaches, and the chess community for their support. I will keep working and trying to improve.
