"When You See a Good Move, Look for a Better One"
Hey Impressive Chessers!
This blog centers around the timeless advice from the legendary Emanuel Lasker, the 2nd World Chess Champion:
"When you see a good move, look for a better one."
We’re diving into a game that embodies this philosophy. There was a point where I saw I had a good, or at least decent, move. Instead of playing it right away, I kept that move in my "back pocket", knowing that I could always return to it, if I had nothing better. *Spoiler alert* I did have something better! Will you be able to find it as well?
Before we get started, a little bit of housecleaning:
- We’re revisiting a game previously highlighted in Puzzles from an Online Game Lessons and Surprises 👈🏻click here for more information on this (imho) entertaining game.
- A quick shoutout to Strategic Kids! This organization has taught thousands of kids in Southern California, making chess both fun and educational. This very game will soon feature in Strategic Kids' "Monster Book" — the most advanced book of their series. Check them out here: Strategic Kids.
Take me to the full game, I don't want to do the puzzles!

Finish Them!!
It wouldn't be a Lasker post without his most famous combination:
I hope you enjoyed that game as much as I did! Remember Lasker's wise advice to search for a better move, even (or especially) when you already see a good one. If you follow this credo you will surely Stay Impressive!
