Wildest Game Yet! Ding-Nepo Game 12 Recap.

Recap of Game 12 of the FIDE World Chess Championship 2023 between Ding Liren and Ian Nepomniachtchi. The players started with 1. d4 Nf6 2. Nf3 d5 3. e3 c5 4. Nbd2 cxd4 5. exd4 Qc7, leading to a Carlsbad structure. The game proceeded relatively quietly until Ian played 13...f5, creating a pawn chain on the kingside. Ding responded with 16.Nh5, beginning an attack. Ian countered with 17...Rg8, pinning the g-pawn, and Ding responded with 18.Kh1. However, Ding missed the threat of Nh4, and after Ian played 19...Nh4, he gained the advantage. Ding tried to create counterplay by opening up the center with 24.c4, but Ian played a brilliant move with 25...b5, defending c4 and threatening d5+. Ding then blundered with 28.Qc6, allowing Ian to play Nf5 and win, but Ian blundered back with 28...Bb8...
