Marcel Duchamp. Some Correspondence Games. That Simple!

London busses, as we say. No blog for ages, then two come along at once! grin.

One for my dear friend @AstroTheoretical_Physics  He has just done a wonderful blog about the artist/chess player Marcel Duchamp. You can find it here :- https://www.chess.com/blog/IntriguingChessStories/how-a-surrealist-sketched-the-chess-squares  He does fine work, and hopefully will continue to do so. Wishing you all the best mate.

I offered him some correspondence games of Duchamp's, but he was happy for me to post them myself, so here they are. Short and sweet. No frills or deep research today guys. ( sighs of relief all round wink)

His reputation as a correspondence player rests on his winning one of the IFSB tournaments. Not the strongest - there are only three other players there of repute (Keres and Vidmar won later IFSB tournaments) but his margin of victory was definitely impressive!

The games are not online as far as I can see, and not so easy to come across I guess. They are via the wonderful Tim Harding's database, with the notes here.. Let's enjoy some chess.

Folkmann was a good player.
Siebold also had a reputation. Students of Keres will know the name.

British Chess News. Reilly was the editor of BCM and I met him as a kid!!

There is another picture there of Reilly which i think includes Duchamps, but I can't verify it, so haven't included it here.

Herzog was no mean player.

That's it for today. Remember - always value your friends - I am lucky to have so many. Some magic from the legendary Son House - the man was quite a story.
