Usually against the Accelerated Dragon, I play the Maroczy Bind.

But here I instead opted for 5.Nc3 ...

I was hoping to play the line where I exchange knights on c6 and then push e4-e5.

I don't understand why my opponent played 6 … d6 as this is inconsistent with the basic idea of playing the Accelerated Dragon; making the d7-d5 break in one thrust.

I didn't want to play the Yugoslav Attack and since the option of playing the Levenfish was off the board, I decided to go for the classical Dragon.

The idea of 9.Nb3 I believe is that white wants to push f2-f4, but 9.f4 is bad for white because black has 9 … Qb6 so after 9.Nb3, the bishop on e3 is guarding the b6 square. The g4 square is still guarded against Nf6-g4 ...

Black should play:

9 .. Be6 and black is probably better in all variations.

You can see here that 9.f4 Qb6 … is very dangerous for white.
