Help?

Hi. I just joined this group. I joined it so I could become better at chess, seeing as I am only a novice. I was thinking about learning some good openings to improve at chess. I looked on wikipedia and saw that the sicilian defense is considered very powerful, and I want to learn it. I would like to know exactly how to do many of the variations of the sicilian, how to counter them, and what the theory behind everything you do in the sicilian is. A big reason I would like to learn the last point is that when I looked on wikipedia, I saw that if you use an irregular opening called Anderssen's opening, you can play a kind of sicilian with reverse colors. To do so, the line would be 1. a2-a3 e7-e5 2. c2-c4 (note, I am not very good at chess notation so please forgive me if I messed up). I would like to know, based on the theory behind the sicilian defense, how useful this reverse sicilian would be.

A better and more widely used 'reverse sicillian' is the English Opening, which starts 1.c4

Also, if you are a novice, then attempting to learn the sicillian first is not a good idea. 

First of all, although that seems like a reverse sicilian, it is not really. Two reasons are that white starts first and that e5 is not necessarily played. The following is a quote from Wikipedia:

This line is also known as the Sicilian Reversed. Although a move ahead of the Sicilian Defense, White has difficulty converting this into a concrete advantage.

Second of all, I do not want very well-known openings. The only reason I have been considering the sicilian is because it is considered very good. Third of all, I went to a chess camp this summer. Everyone there was give or take my level, but one of them played the sicilian quite well. However, if not the sicilian, than what should I do? I have been considering learning the Lion's den and Lion's claw, but perhaps you can recommend something better and yet not very well-known (unless it is very good).

If you want to study some openings you must know first the traps of the opening you want to learn. And from your request you want to learn sicilian defense.
