What is your favorite gambit ?...And most common gambits?...

Thanks

Charlie91
Following Ercan's question, which is the best, meaning, which has the best outcome for Black (or White)?
bendcat

In my opinion it is King's Gambit, very sharp, it is very hard to win against King's Gambit if your opponent playing with accurate moves.

Qxe8
Yup, King's Gambit is the most solid too. It is extremely hard to equalize, evenn with best play.
Charlie91
Noted on that.  But I read in Wikipedia that "The King's Gambit is now rarely seen at the master level. Black can obtain a reasonable position by relinquishing the extra pawn at a later time and consolidating defensively." I.e., Black should not try to maintain that pawn lead...  Undecided
bendcat

Yes, King's Gambit is rarely seen at master level, why?, it is because of Fisher's article of "A Bust to the King's Gambit". And this became most famous about an opening ever, and had a devastating affects on King's Gambit opening.

Here is the sample game:

Because of this article by Fisher the King's Gambit has disappeared entirely from Grand Master play.

Charlie91
Very nice... so that's Fisher Defense.  The same theme is there--black not being able to castle.  Thanks for that info!
