Hello and Welcome!  I'll be brief. My philosophies in bilitz chess are few and fairly simple. (1) Study the games of masters, but create your own systems and variations based on both your own research and individual preferences. These will be harder for an opponent to follow, since it's more difficult to predict what you'll do next. I have about five main systems that I play consistently in standard opening games, all derived from underlying conventional openings. For example, I made my own derivatives of the King's Gambit, the Old Benoni, and the Caro. Paring down the field of study is vital for stable performance, at least in my own opinion. (2) 3-min. Blitz is a unique game. Even chess.com has stated that it's far less about "winning" (mating) than just timing an opponent out. So that's what I usually try to do - lock the board up, then play defensively. Wait for opponent errors and bide  your time - have a coffee, whatever!   And that's pretty much it.
