     I fell in love with chess when I went to college and spent so much time playing chess my first year that I almost got expelled because of poor grades.  Most of the time I am a poor humble woodpusher, but occasionally I get a brilliant (in my opinion, at least) idea or combination and that makes it all worthwhile.

     I love the intellectual stimulation, the beauty of well-played chess games and the competition.

     My favorite openings are the Ruy Lopez as White and the French Defence as black.  I'm terrible with the King's Indian and sometimes I can play the Queen's Gambit Declined well when I have Black.
