From the linked story: "charges of stealing $30,000" and "Students in the school's chess club were selling candy and hot dogs to raise money"
Who are they selling hot dogs to, Kobayashi? That's one heck of a lot of weiners!
Actually, most of the money was from donations. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that $70,000 was donated to a chess club. I've never heard of chess clubs with so much money.
Here is a news story about a school official and his alleged theft from the chess club:

I still cannot believe what I am reading from this story. A school official stealing from a chess club, you must be kidding me?! That is low! If I were a parent or one of the kids in the chess club I would be raged from this. Even as a reader of the story I am pretty angry with this.
School officials should be supporting and encouraging the kids with the game of chess, not using the chess club for their own greed!
