She doesn't claim it, those who select america's national team claim it. Besides, nothing exceptional here, prodigies aren't born only from university teachers...

There are lots of talented 7-year-olds out there. I'd be curious to see his rating.

ok ok ok , I read that article and 3rd place in some random tournament does not signify a "prodigy"  Mingus the supermodels son may be very good at chess, but NOT a prodigy.  Child Prodigy should only be give to players such as Bobby Fischer, Josh Waitskin, and Magnus Carlsen

I think the terms "child prodigy" and "super model" are overused.
