Well, to tell Malta's history would require a load of books, but suffice it to say that since Malta is right in the middle of the Mediterranean sea, it was occupied by most of the major powers from antiquity right up to 1964 when we got our independence.

Team Malta was recently formed for Maltese Nationals or players of Maltese origin. As some of you might know Malta is one of the smallest nations represented on Chess.com and although officially we have 323 members on the site, I bet that less than a tenth are active. I am trying to host our first two matches but have even found difficulty in filling 7 slots for the games. Therefore this is an appeal to all Maltese Nationals and even more so to Maltese expatriates or people of Maltese origin to contact me so as to join the small team from the small island with a big heart and a great history.
