Well, back in Group A all the games were drawn today except Anand-Topalov wherein Anand emerged victorious.

Not a good day for team Danailov/Topalov/Cheperinov

Topalov has nothing to prove to anyone, neither Cheparinov, both are brilliant players. But specially Topalov, he can win to everyone.Seems to be a lot of rancor here against the two bulgarians.

Ahh looks like Cheperinov will have to make a public apology tomorrow, then the game will be replayed.

Makes sense.

 True.

Personally I don't much care for them after their behaviour in Elista.

Smartattack
And what was their behaviour in Elista?Complaining about some guy going tons of times to the WC, is that wrong behaviour?
Smartattack
I think Topalov will have a chance for the title soon, and playing at Sofia,Things will be different.I remind to all here Topalov reached once 2813 ELO, only past by the great Kasparov.

A good and just decision, as Cheparinov did not deserve to forgeit the game, but Nigel Short does deserve an apology for Cheparinov's unsportsmanlike behavior.

Are you kidding? He cant make a move until the clocks are started, which means his opponent was late to the game, which isnt very nice. What should he do? Should he wait ,with his clock running, until his opponent decides  to show up?  No player would do this.

Nigel pulls the upset!!

That annoying little weiner Cheperinov sure had his lousy manners/tactics/whatever backfire on him. Laughing

You could at least write his name correctly, it s Cheparinov.

Topalov sacrificed a piece today and crushed Kramnik in his pet semi-slav ! Topalov plays much more exciting chess than any of the other GMs imo. How many of the top ten still sacrifice pieces against other top players?
Smartattack
Wonderfull game by GM Topalov.i would dedicate his game to all of his detractors.Cheparinov scored a win too. This 2 will have a word to say for years to come in chess
ericmittens

Wow, I'm not a fan of topalov, and especially not of his manager, but I have to take my hat off to him today....that was an incredible game.

I can't believe he blew open Kramnik's pet slav like that! Surprised I'm sure there will be more than a few computers working hard tonight figuring out that piece sac.

Kramnik sac'ed a piece against Morozevich at the World Championship in Mexico. I have a vague recollection of Anand sac'ing a piece recently as well, but can't remember against who.

Smartattack
After Mr Short won to Cheparinov he proclaimed this words "God is surely not Bulgarian".I agree but Topalov flew high today, today s game was an instant classic for years to come.a kick on the monotony that usually colours top GM tournaments.

Magnus is back on top again after round ten today :)

Played a Benko Gambit against Van Wely, one of my favorite openings!

Ivanchuk broke his record of draws with a victory over the hapless Eljanov as well, what was he thinking spoiling a nice line of draws like that!?

Carlson beat kramnik with Black!!

When was the last time Kramnik lost with the white pieces??

ericmittens

Well, there's only one round to go and carlson is playing radjabov with white, hopefully he'll pull out a win and take his first catagory 20 tournament victory.

The big match of the day though will be Anand - Kramnik, a prelude to the world championship match later on in the year!

vishy was beaten by the underdog ooooooooooh.
