The first ever daily puzzle on chess.com
So, I was so bored that I just went all the way through the daily puzzles chess.com has, and found the first ever daily puzzle that was published on the 8th of May, 2007. But the puzzle isn't even correct lol
The puzzle:
I don't understand how they came up with this as their first ever daily puzzle. Maybe chess.com was so poor back then that they didn't even have engines, but whatever. It is the first ever daily puzzle. So can't say too much.
Ā
I can't speak to this particular one, but a quick engine check sometimes isn't enough to validate that it's really the best line. Some positions need a very deep check to get to the truth of the position.

Thatās true. But the thing is, Rg4 just loses for white on the spot lol
This is a very interesting post, and I would not have thought to look for the first daily puzzle. I for sure thought that Qf6+ was right, so It's weird how they screwed up a the puzzle like this.
Giving up up that rook sure looked stupid!
Not only does it look stupid, it also is lol
Yeah I am Chinese, but I live in Norway and I also do speak Norwegian. So I just put the Norwegian flag up instead since I currently live in Norway.
I wonder if the puzzle was originally created with the c3 pawn on c4 but was incorrectly converted when put on the website.

Even so, when black plays Qb7/Qc6 with check white has multiple squares to move the king to., so there are multiple best moves. So after all this puzzle just doesn't work

Granted. That is probably why later puzzles often stop when it doesn't seem done (transfer the c3 pawn to c4, then 1 Rg4 hxg4 2 Rxg4 end of puzzle - though originally positioning the king on h1, g1 or f1 instead of g2 would have allowed the solution to continue until mate).
DUDE!! I found THE best solution to this(somehow it is not correct)Ā
First we go Queen f6 checking the king and forcing it to move to g8, then we sacrifice
DAA ROOOKH-rook to g4 the opponent has to take the rook and then we again go rook to
g4 while capturing the pawn and checking the King and forcing it to move to f8 and then the killer moveĀ
QUEEN TO G7 ---Checkmate---
It's easy to find even as a 700 Elo rated player
THANKS!!
Edit: I'm stupid :,(
