@BrianErdelyi  (or any other of course) You wouldn't happen to play chess with a Magic Mouse? How does it feel, using it for chess - is it alright? Im not happy with the mouse I have now (MX Anywhere 3, the SW sucks), and it seems Magic Mouse is "the best" for MacOS overall

I think I have a magic mouse, but I use a Satechi mouse.  love the look and price.

Ok guys i recently purchased a M1 mac. Does anyone have used lets say Stockfish to Chessbase to tell us how it works?

I use ochessbase on Mac with the M1 version of parallels and it runs fine.

no idea about using a DGT board tho.

My main concern is about the engine! Is the engine with an ARM processor and Virtual Machine runs properly lets say 2000 3000 Kn/s

@zedclues: Which version of Parallels and Windows do you run?

Dear all, I intend to buy a DGT board. I am using a Macbook Pro M1, 16GB RAM, 1 TB SSD (new 4/2022) with Parallels 18 & emultated Windows 11 ARM. Chessbase 16 & Fritz 18 run without any problems. What is the compatibility with DGT boards (bluetooth or USB)? Can I play via DGT board without problems against Fritz, chess.com, etc. and train with Chessbase? I would be very grateful for concrete information whether a DGT board is compatible with my software-hardware combination without any problems. Many thanks for infos and experiences as well as warnings, respectively.  Many thanks  and kind regards from Vienna (AT), Rudi

Hallo Everyone,

Just wanted to revitalize this topic if possible. I am in need of a new Laptop and very tempted to get an new Apple M1/M2 version. Can anyone confirm that it is possible to run Chessbase with Mega data via Parallels ? If so, what is the user experience ?

Many thanks in advance for your help !

Mine is on the way. Any tips would be appreciated. I plan on reporting back later this month with my findings. I have a dgt board that I infrequently use. I have used it well with Chessbase on my intel based Mac. But never tried to use it for live games.

DGT on chess.com is broken right now, after they changed to Play. A fix might be coming, but not sure when

I have this exact setup and it works great, apart from Chessbase and Windows UI -- just feel old and clunky compared to Mac. Here's my setup:

  • M1 Max Macbook Pro
  • DGT eBoard USB
  • DGT 3000 Clock
  • DGT Rabbit 64 bit plugin
  • Parallels for M1 (coherence mode)
  • Windows 11
  • ChessBase 17
  • Fritz 18 (plus Stockfish 15 and Komodo)

Outside of Chessbase on Parallels, I can use DGT livechess + chess.com or lichess.org with Chrome on Macos native -- though the experience with lichess.org is better.

I hope this helps other MacOS users who are concerned about compatibility.

I also have a similar question considering Chessbase/Fritz and arm compatibility. Now that the new surface pro 11 is using arm processor i was thinking of buying it. But I wanted to be sure that Fritz/Chessbase would work without any issue. Based on what I read here I think it will work. Can someone confirm? Also, I was wondering if someone actually use Chessbase/Fritz with a surface. If yes, how is the experience? Do you have any issue, do you think that analysing games and searching in databases is quick enough? Thank you very much in advance.

Chessbase works fine on Win11 ARM I use it and no issues so far that I can tell on 10 cores stockfish gets around 5000-6000kns . As far as DGT I’m not sure yet I have it just haven’t tried installing it yet I’ll try today and hopefully let yall know.

Ok so I just installed it on My surface pro 11 and here are my Observations:

1: Don’t even bother if you have a USB only Model the drivers simply won’t load, I contacted DGT who was adamant they work, we’ll see how they respond to my screen shots proving otherwise.

2: If you have the Bluetooth version like I do you’re in luck 🎅 Do not install the USB Driver package except only to pair it the Bluetooth, afterwards deinstall and keep the Rabbit plugin 64bit version, connecting this way is seamless and works flawlessly after a few games I’ve had no issues but your mileage can’ vary.

3: Running Windows 11 Pro 24H2 on a Surface Pro 11th Edirion 32gb ram. Qualcomm Elite X 12 Core Processor.
