Harder to store and prone to mechanical issues. Mechanism was clearly a sign of its time. Excalibur Electronics scrapped their own attempt with an updated robotic arm. The only known picture of their prototype is this.

Pretty sure this has happened to the plastic toys as well, and it adds to how the mechanisms break.

For those who want the fastest response times in blitz, THIS is what you need.

Bumping this thread to ask about the ZMF eboard. It seems to be a HOS exclusive, but I cannot find any discussions or mention of it.

Interesting that this is the first "feature" listed.

@joernupbde, did you see this?

* Supports ChessConnect Plugin to play Online via Chess.com and LiChess.org

Also, this is interesting:

* Cutting edge technology to detect the pieces on the board. Compare to older unreliable technologies used by other sensory boards.

Wonder which older technologies they are referring to? Most of the current technologies work great.

Saw it last week in an email. The board is nice, not in my budget currently but will keep it bookmarked for the future (when I get a nice discount code from them).

Going to the ZMF site might help. Reads like they sell chips ala Certabo to let you use any chess pieces you prefer.

Currently, HOS exempts this particular product from their discount codes.

Also, i find it interesting that the Chess King company is on the box, but no mention on either site.

Going to ZMF might help what? I was wondering what older technology they are talking about. Chessnut sells sensors as well, I have already made my own pieces for the Evo.

I don't see lights on the board in the videos. Really don't want the move called out to me, just give me lights.

As for ChessKing, ZMF mentions this on their site:

  • Board can be connected to our ZMF software, ChessKing Connect, Chess for Android app, and more programs to come in the future.

Was hoping they explained how to get the chip sensors for other pieces.
Good catch on the ChessKing. I missed that when I looked at their site.
But yeah, they took the DGT route for their boards.
