LOTS of status messages.... wink

Does AdBlock interfere with chessconnect? The only error-ish message I get is

"Uncaught (in promise) Error: A listener indicated an asynchronous response by returning true, but the message channel closed before a response was received"

and apparently it can be caused by AdBlock.

joernupbde

I am not sure. Maybe you can try without AdBlock? And can you send me the logs?

OutOfCheese

The logs from yesterday are gone but I'll be able to "make" some new ones wink.png

OutOfCheese

Not sure, if anything that message appears less with adblock disabled.

yes I missed M1 in the 2nd game but mated 2 turns later so there you go happy.png

Oh, and the lag appeared to be the same adblock on or off, no difference.

@OutOfCheese: Thanks for the logs! The reconnect problem seems to be related either to the Chessnut Go or to your browser. From the logs I see that Chessconnect tries to reconnect but does not receive a reply from the board.

I do not have a Go but Chessnut told me that it has the same electronics as the Air or the Pro (which I have). So, maybe it's not that. Bluetooth in Chrome is still considered experimental and especially the reconnect seems to be unstable at times. I tried it on Windows 10 with Chrome 128 and had no problems. Reconnect works and no significant lag. What browser version are you using?

Nevertheless, I put out a new 4.3.25beta which really is a shot in the dark. There is a slight chance that it might fix the lag but probably it does not.

Is anybody else experiencing these problems (reconnect not working and/or lag)? If so, with which chess board, which operating system, and which browser?

OutOfCheese

Still the same browser Chrome (128.0.6613.137 64 bit)

My bluetooth is also connected to an amp at the same time, no idea if that can interfere.

The thing is that lag didn't exist on the oldest Version of chessconnect (4.3.13) I tried, same setup and also connection to amp.

joernupbde

Did you try the 4.3.25beta?

OutOfCheese

Upgraded to Chrome 129.0.6668.58 (Official Build) (64-bit) because everybody knows the more variables you change at the same time the easier it becomes to test something happy.png

Will try the new beta in a few hours, need to get some stuff done first.

Yep, great build indeed, no problems with the Tabutronic and latest v4.3.25b, no lags at all and super-fast response time. Both on Chess dotcom and on Lichess. Microsoft Edge browser v129.0.2792.52 (latest official build). Nice work ! Keep it up !

joernupbde

Thanks, @Kromok2! I am very happy to hear this!

I will pirate this thread just for a second to highlight this suggestion which I believe thread readers would also welcome (thread is in the beta)

Hi, @Rsava! No, that must have been something else. If you can recreate the problem, a console log would be helpful.

Hello @joernupbde - I think this issue of not having the "Connect" button may have been because of a BT keyboard being attached. I played a game last night with the same setup minus the keyboard and all was fine. Will investigate further to make sure.

I'm posting this here in case anyone else is having Bluetooth connection drops when using Chessconnect and the Kiwi Browser on Android.

I like to run the Chesscom Android Mobile App Game Review in a Split Window with Chesscom Web Analysis / Kiwi Browser window and play out moves on my Chessnut Air+.

Here is a screenshot from my Android tablet.

Chesscom Android Mobile App Game Review on the left; Chesscom Web Analysis in Kiwi Browser with Chessconnect on the right:

The problem I was having was when switching between the Kiwi Browser Window and the Android Mobile App Game Review Window, I would loose Bluetooth connection in the Kiwi Browser/Chessconnect/Air+.

In order to fix this problem, I had to turn off the Android App Standby Optimizer for the Kiwi Browser.

If others are having trouble with Bluetooth connection drops in the Kiwi Browser on Android when focus switching between Android apps, you may want to try to turn off the App Standby Optimization for the Kiwi Browser in Android Settings > Battery > App Standby Optimizer.

Thanks @KingMoored. I will add this to the troubleshooting section of the chessconnect web site.

To test if my bluetooth setup with my amp had any influence on the play speed I finally upgraded from pulseaudio to pipewire/wireplumber. Now the moves are a lot quicker (<1s), so a certain bluetooth sound setup may cause some interference. There's a new problem now though, the connection is buggy now. It stays on

now for a long time, then goes up to

but not to "connected". The blue LED on the board first is blinking, then solid, then turns off after a while. When the board has given up and I put it into pairing mode again, it connects quickly and as expected.

Looks like the Bluetooth link dropped during the connection process. I will try to improve handling of this. But you should probably try to improve your signal link even more.
