Chessconnect: a free chrome extension for electronic chessboards

I started work on the Android/iOS version during the summer holidays. But it is still a looooong way to go.

I just released version 4.4.5 as the next official release. This version brings full support for Chess960 and improved pawn promotion for boards without full piece recognition (e.g. Sentio or Pegasus).

On my website you can find a new section about these topics and some general tips on how to move the pieces on each board. I am also planning on making a short series of youtube videos about these topics.

Please let me know, if there are any problems with the new version. I'll will try to deal with them as quickly as possible.

I have a short question. It is hard to integrate plattforms like chessarena? Chessarena interesting to play games that have an inpact of your fide / elo rating. The plattform is official from Fide and I can't see any support for a e-board.

@subersional: Yes. You can load a PGN to the chess.com analysis board. Chessconnect does the support this. Analysis board on lichess is currently being worked on.

Today I played a couple of games. In the first game I castled queenside and my Air kept the a1 and c1 leds on and failed to transmit further moves to Lichess, however the moves still registered on the board. The exact same thing happened in the second game when my opponent castled queenside.

I'm playing on a windows 11 pc using an edge browser. My chessnut air is connected by bluetooth. Is this a known issue?

I have a had a move not register on the Lichess site occasionally. First time I continued on the screen.

The last two times I reload the page, the board reconnects and all pieces on screen are correct.

Not really a big deal for me as I play longer time control games, but I can see it being an issue in faster controls.

Probably need to grab logs as soon as it happens so Jörn can take a look.

@Rsava: which board and which connection method?

A bit of a noob question. How do I grab a log?

Logs are in developer mode of chrome.

Has happened on the Chessnut Air and the Pro, BT connection.

hi Jörn. after update, my opponent long castle, game become unplayable on dgt eboard (the cheaper non wooden one). i tried everything but it was not fixed, had to click rest of the game which was unfortunate.

black to move, you should be able to reproduce, if not, let me know, and i will provide you with log within 1-2 weeks when i play next time.
game was played on the other popular site, you can see the full game there (i have same username on both platforms). after game i tried putting this in to the analysis, same bug, any other position work good..
i have played hundreds of games with your software, worked fine every time. great extension, the only reason i buy DGT eboard with the clock, everything has worked good before. thank you and keep it on dude!

edit: forgot mention that it was warning that rook on d1 is misplaced.

@stealthbook: I replayed this game (YfFWLx4t) on the chess.com analysis board with no problems. Can you tell me how to recreate the problem on the analysis board? (or in any other way for that matter?)

Hi good people. I've just played a tournament on Lichess. This damn pluggin only went eight rounds 15|10 without a single hitch. Version 4.4.5. On a nine year old MacBook. Thanks again Jörn.

YfFWLx4tNEvy, on other site yes. i opened the analysis board on that site while having the position from the game, and i could not move as black at all, while any other random position worked that way from the middle of game. here is what i did to reproduce it after the game:
1. so basically go to the game editor on the other site
2. input fen, press enter
3. go to the hamburger menu on the right, click "board editor"
4. set up pieces on the eboard to correspond the FEN position, make sure it is connected 
5. click "continue from here"
6. play as black, strength of the bot does not matter
7. try move piece as black, such as pawn to a6
8. nothing happens
i tried setting up other position from the game with same steps (but different fen), and it worked
also i did not try on this site. it might be bugged on the other one only, where i played the game.
if you need:

latest xubuntu linux OS (unlikely the culprit tho)
chrome: Version 132.0.6834.15 (Official Build) beta (64-bit)
i know it is beta, but if that is really the cause, should be fixed anyway, since they will release it soon. however i think that it is just bug from the 960 update, since this is the first time im getting this bug
let me know if you can not reproduce, i can gather logs, just need information how to activate that mode properly, and where to post them (email would be good)

I followed your description as closely as I could but was unable to reproduce the problem. I started a game against a bot with this FEN (r1bqk1nr/pp1p1pbp/4p1p1/8/3nPB2/2N5/PPPQ1PPP/2KR1B1R b kq - 1 8) and had no problem moving pawn a6.
