Chessnut GO - Travel E-board

Sort:

It seems like the Go has potential to be a nice product but unfortunately the company seems to be very unreliable and unprofessional.

The company is not very fast in response to emails, at times. They are a small company and they may wear many hats.

But they have always responded and always been very professional with me. One of my pawns from my Pro w/premium pieces was cracked and I had a replacement in my hand within 2 weeks.

The Go will be my fourth Chessnut product. I have always been satisfied with their customer service.

Could you stop with the xenophobic bashing of Chressnut?

Just because you had an issue with a product from China that you obviously did not research enough does not mean you should be bashing all companies from China.

Yeah a lot of entitlement on this thread. I'm excited for it to arrive too... but there's no reason to get mad at the people who made the product you wanted. It was clearly labeled as a pre-order. In terms of their customer support, I accidentally ordered orange when i wanted grey so I ordered both and requested a refund of the orange and they had responded within a day or maybe two. Nothing out of line for a small company who, like @Rsava said, has to wear many hats.

Everyone goes by his own experiences and my experience is chess computers made in China are not reliable. Besides, I do not like Chessnut because the size of their boards is not standard and are too small and the standard wooden one that they sell is too expensive with a two year warranty that costs around $100. This is apart from glitches here and their limited app. In the case of break-down you’ll be put through loops to get your chess computer repaired. If you like Chessnut Made in China because of whatever reason that is your business but do not try ti impose your taste on others: one’s food is another man’s poison.
johndango

Different opinions are valuable, but let's not assume everyone else’s taste is “poison” just because it doesn't align with yours.

SpanishStallion
This applies to everyone then: you do not like my food and I do not like yours; my food is your poison and your food is my poison and we have our own good reasons. I talk about my experiences and you talk about yours but do not jump headlong into my plate if you do not like it.

Kevin is of his Meds  SpanishStallion So he now wants to bash Chessnut when he has no clue , Will put my order in soon for the go . wink

Somehow I ended up with a taste of your plate, and it was an experience I'd rather forget. It was overflowing with bitterness, seasoned heavily with overgeneralization, and had an unmistakable aftertaste of prejudice. Would not recommend—0/5 stars.

I have a Chessnut Air and am looking forward to getting a Go. I have enjoyed my Air so much over the past year. It is a wonderful product, the app is easy to navigate, from time to time it does glitch, but usually thats because my board news to be charged. I enjoy it immensely. That is the taste on my plate.

Chessnut boards are never and can never be as good as DGT when it comes to quality. Chessnut boards are not as solid as DGT ones and unexpected glitches like freezing suddenly can cause losing many won games. Also, using Chessnut on PC and computer is not possible whereas on DGT this issue does not even exist. Square-off Pro is at least as good as Chessnut and it costs much less. I had some hassle with Square-off Pro before which really annoyed me but after learning a few simple tricks like ensuring the chessmen are properly placed on their squares and moving the pieces by picking them up rather than pushing them forward I managed to resolve the problems and I can now enjoy playing chess on my favourite sites without any issue. If there is any personnel from Square-off team on here I suggest they also add chessbase (playchess.com) to their app and also make the font colour of the menu buttons more visible. All and all my food on my plate is Square-off Pro now. If needed and some people insist I will open a new topic on Square-off Pro and review their products according to my current positive experiences.

You can use Chessnut boards on a PC so that is a flat out lie.
Please let us know which Chessnut board you own and how long you have had them.
Which DGT boards do you own?
You actually tried pushing the SquareOff pieces across a mousepad board? HAHAHAHA!!!

Yes, please open your own topic, go spread your hate and lies in another topic so people can ignore you.

SpanishStallion
It is obvious that you do not know much about Square-off Pro boards. The board is not mouthpad as you have fantasized, it is sort of thick silicon-type sturdy board on which you can easily push the chessmen therefore do not go round spreading lies about Square-off Pro boards in this forum.
Chessnut boards would not connect to PCs originally which created many headaches for their owners and even now that they claim to have fixed this problem the occasional glitches can ruin a good online game. Whether you support Chessnut company and advertise for them on here or like the board because of personal reasons we don’t care actually because as I said before everyone is entitled to their own opinions. You like Chessnut, I like DGT, another likes Millenium and somenoe else prefers Revelation II etc. you can talk about your experiences and I talk about mine. If you do not like DGT or Square-off and want to advertise about Chessbut you can go and do it somewhere else but do not try to meddle with other people’s comments on here. Reviews are always both positive and negative and you cannot change things in your favour and escalation only can lead to more escalation.

This is a pretty racist comment mate.

SpanishStallion
Not at all, many people are distrustful of products made in China because of their bad experiences and Made in China is a proverb nowadays. Racism is when you target a person’s race or nationality and here we are talking about product quality and not human quality. It is worth knowing that Chessnut products are made in China and the label says so on the back of the chessboard.

Where are you looking forward to playing your Chessnut Go on the go? I am eager to play at a nice little quiet coffee shop in my neighborhood. And during lunch hour where I can break out the board and put back in my bag easily right after I am done.

I am looking forward to taking with me on business trips to use in my hotel.
