Chessnut GO - Travel E-board

Thanks for your comments... while portability is at the top, I'm still tempted by something better looking like the Air, for example.
Beside that, shipping time for the go seems to be incredibly long... on the official wesite I can "pre-oder" (why pre-order? Iunderstood the product has already came out) and estimate delivery to Italy is in approximately 3 months... I'm pretty confused

OutOfCheese

The site is incorrect at that point, if you look here

https://www.chessnutech.com/pages/shipping-update

shipping times for the EU are "normal" (which in my case was 3 days, should be the same to Italy). The link was given to me by chessnutech chat support and updates weekly.

Granted I ordered a Go but I had the exact same "preorder" and "3 months" on my product yet they delivered in 3 days because the information on the product page simply isn't true, what matters is their shipping update.

oh dear, not very clear nor serious... lol.. but thanks!
Any coupon available for discount?
Still not sure between Go and Air anyway.... or other products by other producers...

The website greets me with

"CODE:CHESSNUT"

Ordered via your coupon code Whiggi. Being a non-EU/US resident, it will be shipped directly from China. At this moment, I am in the phase of waiting for the tracking number. At least they are more reliable than "Square-off," which doesn't even ship to my country. "First-world" citizens get it directly from the warehouse in Germany with no additional taxes paid. Not a big deal for an item so interesting that it could serve a long time. I've watched all possible YouTube videos and read all available sites about it, so by the time it arrives, I guess I'll already be a Chessnut-go expert. Hoping nothing unpredictable happens on the world level before it should arrive.

Dispatched, what a cool company.

I know were I will look for

self-moving pieces on the board, in

the future. Their project in the progress:

"Chessnut Move"!!

For sure!

16:31h unpacking.

EDIT: New app version works after reinstall (new updates not always visible in playstore)

Is there any reason to get Chessnut over chessup?

OutOfCheese

It depends on your personal preference. Chessnut provides a way to play almost like on a real board whereas chessup has a disco ball explosion light show that's quite different from playing on a real board (of course I assume you can turn that off - but then what's the point).

If all you want is to play like on a real board - chessnut.

If you want to take your computer play experience to a physical board - chessup.

Chessnut can be used with programs on Windows (and some Linux distros) via USB and BluetoothLE: Fritz, ChessBase, LucasChess, Shredder, SCIDvsPC, Arena, Chessmaster, Winboard,....

I have probably used my Pro w/premium pieces for my last 10 games along with the Chessconnect extension and as my son would say, "It slaps!"

It is honestly the closest I have had to an OTB experience while playing online over the past 15 years.

Love almost all of my 8 e-boards but the Pro with premium pieces is a joy to play with. Very good purchase.

First day discovered "chessvision" system works for the "Go", via new app with that new option.

As one scrolls through news articles or puzzles, same-colored ( even simpler ) dots lighten up at different places... ( non-dotted means pieces remain as-is )

That are markers for setting up positions.

Connection is flawless. Albeit, nothing metal like should be near the board or it will become "mad"...

As with old retro comps, there's reset dot which could be accessed only with needle-like thing and is important when one forgot did he's bluetoothed or not.

If one is linked to its account via "google", should instead log in via email (chess.com/lichess via newer app).

Of course, gameplay is instant. Illegal moves simply won't be relayed and that's it.

EDIT: OTB games are saveable "offline", no phone needed for them - board's internal memory. USB cable indeed could be used but BT seems simpler, especially via "PGN Master".

Greetings,

I utilize the latest LucasChess on my Linux box (Fedora 41) with the USB cable connected to a Chessnut GO - works great. I am still trying to get the board to work with SCID, but not a big issue. Unfortunately, I cannot get over the toy look of the Chessup devices, and the fact that they do nothing better (for me) than the Chessnut and Millennium offerings.

Cheers

I also have the chessvision extension and app installed on android but I can't see where you would get it to connect to the Chessnut board.

I can't believe they put a screen on the chessup 2, the very thing a lot of eboard players are trying to get away from.
