Henke Schach “Devil Knight” Staunton chess set

I came across this chess set on Etsy with some remarkable devil-like knights. Apparently it’s a set from the ’60s by G. Henke & Co, but I can’t find any more information about it.

Anyway, I thought it was such a curious sight, I had to show it here for those who might appreciate it.

I have seen a set like this, or at least one quite similar:

It was online, and I remember the seller wrote "from Spain". The knights and the whole set could very well be Spanish, at least that's what I feel, too. The knight on your second picture shows a very nice smile. They are not so much little devils but little billy goats to me!

Very interesting! And yeah, I can see a bit of goat likeness.

Put into a box in Germany tongue

"The German company G. Henke & Co. was located in Bad Karlshafen, a small town right on the border between Hessia, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. It is unclear, if Henke was a manufacturer of chess sets or if Henke just imported and distributed them."

Probably passed orders to the chess piece makers in the Jura who exported a lot to Germany.
