How much does he charge?
He's 100% worth it. I took from him for 6 months and loved it. Life has gotten busy recently and I haven't been able to put much time into study, but I plan to take again when things settle down.
@marioparty4 - it's like $15/hr which is totally reasonable for someone to share their significant expertise
Look at the numbers, they don't add up.
Numbers don't add up? Can you not do simple math?
For a 5-hour pack = $100 = $20/hr
For a 10-hour pack = $190 = $19/hr
For a 20-hour pack = $360 = $18/hr
For a 30-hour pack = $450 = $15/hr
Considering most of the coaches here are $50-$100/hr this is by far some of the most reasonable coaching on chess.com
I agree with all of the rave reviews above, I am loving working with @Viephi! Very insightful, friendly, encouraging, and fun to work with. You can feel his true passion for chess and teaching, and it's clear that he really cares about my progress. Also a great value – I tried some other coaches who were both more expensive and less effective.
We have a good structured approach with specific HW. He is very responsive to my questions and often suggests additional specific lessons and videos for high priority topics tailored to my game.
Most importantly, through our game review discussions, I've quickly learned a lot about my bad habit patterns, and how to improve my processes of move selection. We've also worked on key strategic concepts and tactics.
In the past, I didn't have enough of a structured learning process, and didn't improve much. Since I started working with him recently, I've been feeling very inspired and motivated to improve and make breakthroughs in my game, which I'm confident will now come quickly.
Highly recommended!
why do i feel like half of the people on this forum are paid to say stuff? #2 went inactive the exact same day they posted good stuff
@sqjs -- I worked with viephi for a year and a half and went from 1100 to 1500 rapid. A teacher can't control whether a student on chess.com works on chess or just continues to mindlessly push pieces, but I learned quite a lot.

Well, sometimes I ask students to write reviews about their experiences with my lessons, good or bad, and sometimes they do it on their own. I can't control who's going to keep using their accounts, who will continue studying chess, playing chess, etc., as @Osh_Orr pointed out. Also, with the rates that I have, it wouldn't make much sense to pay people so that they say nice things about me. I'd lose more money than making it
Cheers!
