Can't believe it...

I'm finding chess mentor rediculously hard... I seem to have almost NO strategic knowledge.  Often times I find the first (key) move intuitively (which I consider rather impressive) but then I miss the continuation...  Other times I find the 'alternate' correct move where my 'mentor' suggests something 'simpler' ... and yet  I can't find it.

Just depressing...

I'm trying to figure it out myself.  I'm returning to the game after many years and can't believe how much I forgot.

I wish there was a course for returning players.

I want to go over books with people chapter by chapter

I think the problem with chess mentor is that it throws you into the middle of a master game and expects you to find the best move?! That is not a reasonable expectation without laying a groundwork for analysing the board... i've found silman's books in general to be similar
