time in chessmentor

I just took a subscription to chessmentor.

I noticed that there is a lot of text to the right side of the board explaining the siuation in most lessons. I want to really take in all the information but i noticed that if it takes to long to read, percentages of your score go down.

Is there a way to start the timer as soon as you are don reading and fully understanding all the text?

how would we know when you are done reading? :D

my suggestion is don't worry too much about the timer or the rating. it's a tool to learn! the reason we have the scoring is so that on average you can track progress. it isn't perfect, but it's the only way.

I was guessing that was the reason.

There could be a button that says "start". People could read the situation at their own pace and hit the button when they are through reading. Sure they could think the problem all the way through and than hit the start button, but they'd only be cheating themselves that way.

Now I don't know if I was a slow reader (i.e. the text was really long) or that I really did not do too great on the lessons that particular week. I know the rating is just that, a rating. It does not hold any value to go telling everybody about. I'd just like it to be less ambiguous (i.e. time or skill)

That is why I am saving my Chess Mentor time for my Winter break so I can concentrate better. Tongue out
