Did he just pull a Bobby Fischer?

Man doesn't want to play. My prediction was wrong. Oh well good luck to Nepo and Ding in their match.

Yes! The reason behind is one of his close circle leaked his prep.

Magnus is in the wrong here... it appears.

There is no public accusations of cheating.

IF and that is a big if, Hans did cheat that is no reason for Magnus to ruin the whole tournament.

Magnus should at the very least divulge why he left the tournament.  If Hans did nothing and Magnus doesn't think Hans did nothing then why allow his name to be dragged through the mud.  If Magnus does think that Hans cheated then he need to provide some sort of evidence or reason to believe that.

Until then the negativity should be directed at Magnus, not Hans where there is no evidence of any wrong doing.

to be completely fair Magnus is not wrong too because he never directly said that he thinks hans cheated he just said I withdrew from the tournament and then everyone thinks now it is because hans cheated I don't get why the chess world needs to create drama.

So how is Carlsen not wrong to withdraw from an ongoing event, messing it up for organisers and other participants, apart from removing Niemann’s win against him from the tournament? Aronian now got five blacks in eight games, some players got rest days others didn’t etc etc. The effect the more or less open accusations against him must have had on Niemann are obvious. And if Carlsen didn’t withdrew for the reason everyone knows was the reason, he could have stated that he didn’t withdrew because of any such suspicions instead of making it clear that he would be in trouble if he said why he withdrew (combined with the organisers adding more anti-cheating measures the same day). So I think Carlsen is pretty much in the wrong here.

Sad thing is, computers have perfected the game to the point where grandmasters just draw game after game after game in these world championship matches. It's all become a bit stale and boring. Bobby Fischer was speaking about this problem years ago.

Hans and Magnus will play each other tomorrow in Julius Baer Generation Cup. It started today.

Magnus Resigns against Hans after 1 move

GBTGBA

So immature. is he 31 or 9 years old?

ChesswithGautham

Neither. Probably 7.

ChesswithGautham

The kids I used to play would play through the whole game, and they were I dunno, 6?

ChesswithGautham

Damn I thought Magnus was a good player and I was actually thinking of studying his games. Oh well…

Maybe he thought his position loses by force?

Tbh, I was kind of expecting Magnus to stop, mainly because he has won so many times and has played for so long. He would be bored of it
