Does "Five Principal" is also an opening type?

Just curious to be honest...
I'm new to chess and i always use this one to create an opening. I couldn't differentiate whether its a rule or an opening. First time i learn "Five Principal" from "Learning Chess With Dr. Wolf" app, one of another Chess.com apps.
