That stated... less people really know the Philidor, mastery should bring you a practical advantage OTB.

The French.

I have played them both. The Philidor is solid but boring. Although you have to walk a tight rope in the opening. There are multiple traps against black.

The 1.e4,d6 move order avoids all of White's second move options.
