Hi Everyone,

I am a chess opening expert. If you need help on your chess openings, please send me a message and I will be glad to help you! You also may, without asking, feel free to join my group "Killer Openings".

I specialize in the following openings:

As white:

Italian Game (Evans Gambit is my favorite)

Vienna Game

as black:

Sicilian Dragon

Scandinavian Defense

I also like to play a wide variety of openings, and everyone is welcome to join my group and come to me about help on any opening variation that you would like assistance on.

Have a good day, and I would love to hear from you! Please send me a message!

Sorry, but I can't help but laugh at this. A chess openings "expert" with less than 50% against sub 1400 opponents (1339 average) can only be laughed at, certainly not taken seriously.

I was targeting beginners with no knowledge of the opening, or people looking to learn one opening.

My rating used to be 1500 or so, I lost a bunch of games on time and never recovered!

scandinaviandefense
And my message worked, as there are now 15 group members and a lot of players wanting to learn openings.

To be honest they are right even if they are harsh on u. It takes alot more then memorizing opening lines to play openings well or to truly understand them. Its not untill u played them over a period of time that it starts to become clearer, i learned that lesson the hard way. When you can play them well even against a seasoned player then make such a bold statement mate, other wise u will get this critizim. But its nobel of u to want to share what u have learned......Cool
scandinaviandefense
Actually littleman, when I teach beginners, I ALWAYS stress the point of understanding why the opening books suggest a move, why a move was played, and so on. Then if your opponent deviates from theory, you still know what moves should be best.
littleman
What beginners need isnt a strong opening understanding to be honest. Its understanding the fundementals of it (Pawn structures and the effects of them,time/tempi concepts developing with purpose, controling the center effectivly, controling more space on the board, looking for weaknesses, how to launch a safe attack and counter attack ideas, basic tactics, endgame checkmates and other things on endgames and the list goes on.)  indeed for the overall game. Teaching them openings will not help them much as once its over then they are stuck not knowing what to do next or how to take advantage of the opening they learned and when thet play better players they will still get beaten because of a lack of follow up understanding. Thats y they need more then opening knowledge to play well mate and that includes u im afraid because on this site 1500 isnt that big a deal either. I hope u can do more then teach them openings by memory mate....Cool
littleman
Im Glad ur teaching them to understand the basics of the openings but remember to teach them wisely ok....Cool

I also suggest further reading depending on openings they are learning. For example: Sicilian Dragon players should study mostly tactics, as there are lots in that opening and in the entire game. For Caro-Kann players, I recommend studying positional play and subtle maneuvering above all else (But to still study some tactics, to be familiar with them). And for beginners trying to learn endgames, I will give them help on basic endagme principles.

ok seems like u have put some thought into it which is good to know i still believe fundemetals work better first though. I know from personal experience on that one. I studied openings and some of the reasons behind it, but to be honest i still didnt understand chess so much untill i read a good book on fundemtal principles then my chess improved alot! and thats y i believe that is more important for a beginner to me anyway. Best of luck with it and i hope it goes well anyway....Cool

PS i posted a blog on my friends game i played against him and he is a better player then u, and he played by his understanding of book and i didnt i played the game not just the opening look it up and see if u can learn something from that egsample ok...

" How did I know this was the post of a sub 1400 rated player?"

Well, he did say he was a chess opening expert, not a end game expert ;)

scandinaviandefense
Well put b04155, I said I was an opening expert. Although that probobly wasn't good wording, I did not say that I was the greatest endgame player, although I am studying such things much more now.
littleman
Thats good to know. what about the stuff after the opening into the middle game understanding how is that going?
scandinaviandefense
I have been studying tactics for several months now, and I am getting pretty good at those.

Reb, aren't you being a bit rough here.  You don't accept an A class player could be a good coach for kids and lower rated players?  Chesslover96 I think it might be an idea with all due respect to edit the title of the thread and your first post, it's a bit misleading to say the least.............

Good! that will help for sure. But learn strategy and positional play too ok, because they are as important as tactics. Tactics dont come easy without good positions to work from or an overall plan to follow up on in most cases i found....

danacreate

ha aha hahaha ahh. well done!!!

scandinaviandefense
Yes, I was not thinking that by saying "become and opening master" that masters would come annoy us and tease us, laugh at us, etc. I don't know how to change the title though.
littleman
yeah was a bad tittle but a nobel idea mate there should be an edit on the top of your blog as far as i know so try that.
