There is not such a thing as positional or tactical openings. Some openings have higher tendency of getting to positional or tactical play, but most positions can quickly switch from one to another.
Try to figure out what kind of centre you like: Very open positions with a lot of piece play, open positions with less pieces, closed positions, dynamic centre which can easily change to something else, a centre that won't change, etc.
Recently got to 1700 ECF, I still only played like 20 or close to it games and lost only 3 to like 2000-1900 players, mainly because of being unexperienced , but I started drawing quite a few to guys 1700-1900, even so, I feel like I could win if I would play something sharper, so I wanted to know what variation should I choose to be able to play it in classical in few months maybe earlier, I tried playing few variations but except dragon-like structures everything feels so unnatural, maybe I'm just not used to these kinds of structures, but even if we take Kalashnikov variation(the one I found at least somewhat feasible to use without really studying) to survive you need to play such unnatural moves it just feels wrong (maybe this is not the best example but I feel like that in most variations) and I'm not even starting to talk about all those early Bb5 something like that variations
So I suppose my question is, how do I even start studying Sicilian for classical
To be honest, I have an even bigger question that maybe cancels the previous one, how do I know if am I a positional player or tactical, I genuinely cannot understand, because I quite enjoy Carokann and I don't mind playing positional games but at the same time not as positional as Ruy Lopez or smth, but with white, I play Vienna (judge me but I almost won against 2300 with it, and just messed up in a time scramble) and I don't even know do I play it because I like it or this is just the only opening I know, F, I don't even know what I like, this is so stupid
I checked what I usually play and I understood that I'm bipolar, in some games, I like playing extremely aggressively in some I enjoy positional play, in some, I hate the queenless mid game in another opening I like them, but I can't study all of those openings so what do I do
