LOOOL, it's like that f5 opening thread on chess.com
The Santa Claus Opening
Today I received a message which I would love to share!!!
The message said the following:
Could you please send me all the variations for the Santa Claus Opening? I would like to study them. Thanks!
Everyone on this thread should be very proud of themselves!
We took a line no one wanted to play and made it interesting!
No one had faith in this line!
No one even knew about this line!
A few gave insults and considered this line a joke!
An yet through all the struggles the thread and line has continued to captivate people!
The credit for all of this goes to every single one of you!
You are all title worthy in my book!
Without further adieu, I would like to provide the answer the below question in green by doing an update.
Could you please send me all the variations for the Santa Claus Opening? I would like to study them. Thanks!
UPDATE:
These are all the current lines we have so far.
We have created alot of lines;however, we still have not finished.
New lines are still being created.
Which is remarkable!!!!
Santa Claus Opening Begins:
1.e4 e5 2.b3
The below second moves by black have openings names.
Inside of each opening line exist sub-variation's.
I will write in the corner of each line a number of how many variations exist in the particular line in red text.
A) 2...Nf6 = Grinch Defense 5
B) 2...c6 = Christmas Present Defense 2
C) 2...f5 = Caroling Counter Gambit 3
D) 2...Nc6 = Sleigh Defense 11
E) 2...d5 = Christmas Stocking-Counter 2
F) 2...b6 = Bad Santa Defense 2
G) 2...g6 = Accelerated Elf Defense 2
H) 2...Bc5 = The Reverse Bishops Opening 1
I) 2...Qh4 = The Royal Grinch Defense 1
J) 2...Be7 = The Snowman Defense 2
K) 2...c5 = Transposition into the Sicilian Synder Variation
L) 2...d6 = North Pole Defense 1
M) 2...f6 = Egg Nogg Defense 1
We have named 13 different second move options by black.
We have in total 33 different line variation's.
A few of them are not named.
Thus, We need people to think of creative christmas names to name them.
@caezx
Thank you!!
However, we have a line already named the Reindeer Variation.
If we name the line you showed with a similar line it might cause confusion.
Thus, can you think of another christmas name to call it?
The following Post # 293 - 298 have been talking about a few of the continuations in the Present Defence which are not named.
The original line name given was Reindeer Attack.
However, due to the fact the line name is very similar to other variations we couldn't accept this name.
A new name has now been introduced!!!
The Rudolph attack!
We don't have any line named after this.
We can call the line the Rudolph Attack. However, I have to make a small modification!
At move 3 we will have to start calling it the Rudolph Attack!
Not at move 5 which was shown in the diagram on post 293.
The reason why is because the move "3.Nf3" is the start of the side line.
The Classical variation or Mainline variation of the Present Defense is with 3.Bb2
The move 3.Nf3 & 3.d4 are side line variations which are unnamed.
We can call the move 3.Nf3 side line the Rudolph Attack!
As anyone came up with a name for the side line 3.d4??
The Rudolph Attack: 5. dxc6!?
Does anyone have a name for this? There are several different variations:
5... exf3 6. cxb7 Bxb7 7. gxf3 with a wild game. White will place the bishops on b2 and c4, plant a rook on g1
and enjoy a powerful Danish Gambit-like attack. White will most often castle queenside. Black has to respond by attacking White's king along the open queenside files and diagonals.
5... Nxc6 6. Qe2 is interesting, and somewhat calmer.
