"However, I don't call it the Arian lol because we are suppose to use christmas names/idea's lol."

Well Arian counter-gambit is quite Christmassy! Saint Nick punched out Arius at the Council of Nicea :D

(Sorry, that's the Ecclesiastical Historian in me :D). If you want to call it the Caroling counter-gambit though, I'm fine with that. The elephant gambit also has multiple names for it as well (queen pawn counter-gambit, Englund counter-attack).

I have began my article on the Opening.

The above is what I have so far it is still a work in progress.

If anyone has any more theory or christmas line name suggestion feel free to share them in this forum here.

I will be more than happy on discussing it.

Between the idea's of all the people here we could perhaps manage to create a very playable line for the season!

QuietCheck has brought forth a new variation!!!

The Santa Claus Reindeer Attack

Give it a long look what do you guys think!

Should I add it to the theory section?

1. e4 is an aggressive move

Prologue1
What's the plan after 1. e4 e5 2. b3 Nc3 (sleigh variation) 3. Bb2 g3!? Blacks plan is very simple, he will not allow white to play d4 with his knight, bishop and pawn. Then he will exchange his lightsquared bishop for the Knight on f3. He is going to castle, and play c6 and d5, and if ehite tries to really get a grip on d5 with c4, black sometimes tries f5! What's the plan for white?

I am a little confused on your notation.

However, I will try my best to guess what you might be saying.

If I guess wrongly feel free to correct me.

The Sleigh Variation is the following:

1.e4  e5  2.b3  Nc6

I like the move 3.Bb2 against this variation.

The reason I like this move is because it follow's through with the idea of hitting the e5 pawn.

It also covers the newly created weak squares (a3 square and c3 square).

The move 3...g3 is not possible for black.

My guess is you ment 3...g6

If they play 3...g6

I think as white you have 2 very interesting options.

The move 4.f4

or the move 4.Nf3

Both moves add more pressure to the e5 pawn.

I think both 4.f4 and 4.Nf3 are good reasonable moves.

However, there are some advantages and disadvantages to them.

I believe the move 4.f4 is more tactical.

The reason is because when ever you push your F pawn you open the door to queen checks.

I believe the move 4.Nf3 is more positional

The reason why is because instead of using your pawns to add more pressure you plan on using your pieces.

What if black just mirrors the moves?
