The Colle...
As someone new to chess, its hard for Black to circumvent your moves and it get's you into a playable middle game...
If you pick up the Colle... later on your can focus on the Zuckertort or the Koltanowski ... I went the Koltanowski route, incorporated a lot of very old lines form the 1900s-1940s specifically in Anti-Colle lines, Transpose into a QGD when proper to do so... And fight against most of the Indian and Dutch defenses using the configuration c4/d4/e3/Nf3/Be2/Nc3 (also forgotten theory from the beginning era of hypermodern chess, these lines are not well known anymore, but never refuted or broken.
If you think playing the Colle as a system, will save on study time in the opening phase ... guess again. Example, In the main lines of the Koltanowski where Black plays ... Nc6 the main line is now 8. b4 essentially playing a full fledge Semi Slav Meran with colors reversed.. The Meran is a deep theorized main line ( playing it colors reversed is just as complex)
