Chess Club Activity Ideas

Hi! I have been the president of my high school chess club for a while, and I feel that my club is very unproductive.  Many of my club members are only there for credit and I find it very hard to ever plan any activities, and I'm not very sure how to run a chess club really.

I was wondering how some of you guys run your chess club and introduce me to different ideas and activites that I could try to bring to my club.

Thank you!

Is it co-ed? That could raise many possibilities.

It is, but unfortunately there are not that many female members compared to the number of male members.

Yeah, co-ed chess--kind of an oxymoron.

Perhaps finding a chess club in a different part of the world and your club could play them via email.

That's a good idea, but that wouldn't be something we could do in club since we have no access to computers.

And that would be an activity that we would have to do at home, but my members are not going to put in that effort.

You could do postal chess. Slower but doesn't require computers. I recall the average game lasted 2 years though.

Bottom line if they are only there for credit then make it harder to receive credit.
