I am a year under that, and I am 502 FIDE rated, and about 448 chess.com rated.

502 FIDE, that's interesting

Actually way too interesting: FIDE ratings start from 1000...

Yeah, that's why

im 12 and my rating is 1020+

Well im 12 and im around 1600-1700 on chess.com but my guess for an average rating would be 1300. But it does depend if the 12 year old plays chess weekly, daily or just knows the rules.

12 year olds now are honestly brilliant, some of them have even broken the above 2000 mark

I’m 15 and have a bad ranking, so it all depends on the individual and how hard they play and study and stuff.

I know somebody around 12 and he is like a 700 even though he just got into chess recently so i would guess 1100ish

I’m nine
And I started playing a few months ago I’m currently 1080

12 year olds should be rated at least 2000 or they should give up chess forever.

Average elo for a 12 year old is 200.

Average elo for a 12 year old playing chess is 1000?

It's interesting to see how many comments degrade into various versions of "Divide by zero" or infinity etc. It's nice and enjoy that these comments aren't entirely insane (though I guess if they were, I wouldn't even understand it/them? - *places that idea on a (hopefully available) "backburner" somewhere to mull over and contemplate later)

... As far as I know, the average "Tournament rated player" should average 1000. Every 400 points differences between players should represent a 3 to 1 ratio of winnings ... I admit that such is simply a rough stastistic, and if some is curious, Yes, it could be possible that some players are particularly more adept or weak against some other players.

... so let's just *quickly presses forward to the conclusion* Yes, congrats and high fives ... reaching 1200 as a rated (tournament) player IS an accompliment. In fact, it is great that you have helped verify that even 12 year olds are still playing and that some of them might be new world champions, though I admit having heard and generally felt that likely someone who might later became something close to a World Champion in Chess ... I must admit that a rating of 1200 at 12 years old would seem a wild / lucky "shot in the dark". In fact, to be honest, as an interesting idea (which I would SERIOUSLY NOT encourage you to persue) ... if you ever ended up being a World Champion (adds a ton of fine print ... "Within the next 2 decades" etc. etc.)

That would be rather amazing (from my perspective).

Honestly, I wish you the best. You are and will always remain awesome .... if you were to ask why, well it would simply be because you are similar or have elements of myself happy.png

You are fine, Sir happy.png Best wishes forever. Thank you. Great question and I have enjoyed the inspiration. Have fun! Feel free to do all the things a 12 year old boy might do. You are ok, not that you needed it to be affirmed.

Congratulations, "Young Sir" ... I heard you (and you remain beautiful) happy.png Nature can use everything and all things are useful and beneficial for the collective growth.

I understand that this reply may not be understood or coherent for you etc. .... it's is ok. We are all fine happy.png

Best wishes, Sir

Here's a scene from the movie "August Rush" .... *offers a plastic ribbon in thanks* ... what is it worth? Maybe you can decide that for yourself happy.png Again, Thank you
