No.
Cheating
He must have made his moves within the prescribed time limit. How could you completely "stop paying attention" to an online game, didn't you get alerts? Didn't you see the red MY MOVE in your games list?
1) This is not cheating (albeit rude).
2) If it were cheating, it does not belong in the forums.
3) Do not post the usernames of others in the forums to publicly scorn them.
4) If you don't want this to happen again, then pay attention to the game.
THis is a contempuous subject for me. First i loathe players who abandon games when losing, however- this is not the case. A player has the right to use as much time as they want for each move- although if they stop moving for ten min. and then reeneter the game w/ 1 min left it is my obligation to monitor the game and if i dont, well thats my fault and its certainly not cheating- its just a devious strategy that seems to have worked in this case. so in my opnion, learn from this, grow up a little, and keep it in perpective (also i dont think naming and shaming is encouraged on these forums)
@OP: EminenceGrise covered the most important points of advice. Cheating should not be discussed in the main forums. We have a group for that: the Cheating Forum. Search for the Cheating Forum in Groups & Teams to find it.
While I don't mean to be negative or beat a point home, failing to pay attention to a game in progress is nobody's fault but your own. You must see every game through as long as the clock is still running, until the result is clearly posted.
Also, publicly shaming specific users is indeed expressly forbidden in the main forums.
@eddiewsox: This most likely occurred in Live Chess.
I was playing [NAME REMOVED BY MOD.] in an online game. I was beating him pretty handily and he just stopped moving. I stopped paying attention to the game and he ended up winning.
This was clearly his startegy. Is there any way to prevent this from happening? Can I force a move or end the game if this happens?
