1st let me tell you, im new, yall can call me D, i hope to play and learn alot here.
anyway ive always had a great respect for chess and just for knowlege in general, all bc of my dad. but i never was really into chess. BUT recently decided to give it a shot. found this website and the wealth of strategies and tactics, just my thing, i fell in love immediately.
so im at school and decide id like to join the chess club and really see what i can learn and who i could meet. so i goto the library, fill out a chess club form and try to give it to the librarian, she doesnt know what to do with it, so she calls the mans number on the form whose office is very close. he comes out and informs me, there really isnt a chess club and hasnt been for about 2 yrs due to lack of interest. so we continue talking about this and that, and how unfortunate the situation is. but then he says if i want the job im free to take the reigns and assume presidency of the chess club! so of course i accept.
so here i am, waist deep in more chess than i ever expected to be in at this point with my current skill level (which im not even sure with it is actually right now!).
so yes, in conclusion, id like to say hello all you chessheads, lets be friends! and in addition id like to ask for your help with ideas on how to recruit new uninterested members, how do i spark an interest and turn more people onto this great game(especially girls!)?? or any cool ideas for any meetings? or anything at all.
