Paul KERES, the only chess player to be the idol of a whole nation (Estonia). Over 100,000 were in attendance at his state funeral in Tallinn, and he is also the only chess player to get his face printed on a banknote!

Everyone will probably do Bobby Fischer why not be different and do Borris Spassky the man he beat, he is a great guy and has lead a very interesting life. Good luck with it.

Paul Keres

He was an amazing player. Sure he was never World Champion but he had a plus record against Euwe and Tal and equal records against Smyslov, Petrosian, and Karpov. At one time or another he beat nine world champions from Capablanca through Fischer.

I vote Polgar.

Mikhail Tal or Capablanca would be my choices, but Judit Polgar would be a good paper, as well.

As mentioned, I think Bobby Fischer would be of the most interest to any non-chess player.

What did you decide on? The most interesting personalities have got to be Fischer and Kasparov. I'm not even sure 90% of your class would know who anyone else is, even if you picked someone famous like Capablanca or Spassky.

Kasparov.

I think I'm going with Kasparov.

MAREL
