How is Karpov underappreciated?

I believe by chess players all over the world (not NM's, GM's, IM's what have you), Karpov's genious on the chess board was always in the shadow of Kasporov.  If Kasporov would not have been born, Karpov would most likely be the longest standing World Champion.

My opinion only.  Karpov is under appreciated by the masses.

what do you think of my list?

its a good list!

I think your list is medium. uhhm maybe look more at what fischer did from 70-72 and also look at Kasparov's longevity against modern gms you can't do that with mere preparation.  many believe Fischer was nuts but in chess we should look at the moves and the accomplishments not the player.

Fischer, Kasparov and Petrosian. I also admire Kasparov for his attempts to democratize Russia.

My top 10 weren't in any particular order.  Just my top 10.

So bobby fischer in my list is ranked as high as capablanca.
