Lee has been playing chess since first grade when he joined th chess club in his elementary school. Now in 8th grade he has a rating over 2200 which puts him in the top 1 percent of chess players in the United States.
One of his fellow competitors was quoted as saying "He calculates well, he is patient, he has a lot of experience," "and you are sitting across the board from a 14-year-old."
