since you seem to be interested in playing others who are around your level of play (or maybe just a bit better...you'll learn more), you might want to define your open seeks to be available only to players of a certain rating (say, 900-1100).
another good way to find some like-levelled players would be to join a group for beginners (see the "members" tab at the top of the site, go to "online groups"). i'm sure there's a lot (oh look! here's one right here!).
