Many may not know him since he didn't carry the IM/GM title but he was a super imaginative player of expert strength who invented and pioneered a lot strange but fun gambits. Does anyone know if he still plays chess or anything today ?

He's somewhere in hawaii....

More to the point, should we care?

Evidently you care, given you've dug up a 4 year old thread.

RIP Clyde. Great chess mind. https://www.weremember.com/clyde-nakamura/9x4v/memories

He pioneered probably the best English opening gambit: https://www.chess.com/forum/view/chess-openings/ancient-dance---the-kahiko-hula-gambit
