Under any chess-related community, whether that's YouTube or Discord, everyone just seems to ride Magnus. I wasn't going to make a post about this but after being in chess communities for some time it's starting to become concerning. A random grown-ass man will praise this guy like he is the second coming of Jesus. (I'm not Christian) "omg he is handsome, the best in the world at chess, funny, likable, intelligent. Master of all trades" This is not an overexaggerated example. This is an actual sentence I read that a grown-ass man/woman wrote on YouTube about Magnus. Like I have no issue with Magnus and like to watch his chess streams but it's just so annoying to see literally the ENTIRE chess community worship this guy. He is a human being, just like you and me, and he will die one day, just like you and me. stop treating him like he is better or superior to anyone in any way. (I mean as a person, not chess.) I really don't understand why people idolize others. It's okay to take inspiration from him or be a fan of him but to go out of your way to post yet another meme about Magnus Carlsen or another reddit post about "How is Magnus just this good?"
